Weekend Post: Renegade Craft Fair
2 weekends ago, my husband and I wandered (ok, trekked on the 405) to downtown LA to check out the Renegade Craft Fair. If you haven't heard about it, it's basically a huge market with tons of different small vendors. Everything is handmade and ranges from clothing to skincare to leather goods to food, etc. Most of the shop owners have Esty stores, which might give you an idea of the types of things they are selling.
Renegade Craft Fair is now big enough that they have events in 6 major cites (San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, and London), and they normally have a summer and winter show. The atmosphere is always really fun and uplifting. I love discovering new shops and supporting creative people, who work so hard to put out unique and high quality products.
I wanted to share with you some of the sights of the fair and also what I picked up! #haul
And now, time for the haul portion of this post:
I ended up getting 3 teas from T-We Tea because they were just so cute, and funny, and colorful. I have no regrets, they are delicious and I am hooked! Just look at the names! Grumpy Dinosaur, Flailing Princess, and Flaming Prince Charming, too funny! They also threw in a free steeper since I got 3 teas.
Then I had to pick up another print from Leroy's Place. The shop owner is such a lovely and quirky girl. She loves to talk about who the characters are in her paintings. She makes her prints by buying old paintings from thrift stores and then adding her characters into the settings.
There was another really unique shop with watercolor paintings of characters we all know and love. The shop is called Artworks by Nan Lawsome and she does amazing prints with the watercolors. I got the tenth doctor and I just love the style of him. She had tons of other characters, I'm sure you could find one that suits you on her website. Some that I can think of off the top of my head are Harry Potter, Eleventh Doctor (of course), Edward Scissorhands, Groot, Pickachu, Khaleesi, and so many more. She also does some original characters as well.
Last, but not least, I had to pick up at least one candle while I was there. There were loads of amazing shops, but the reason I loved this one (Mine Design) was because of the packaging and the unique scent. Rhubard smells a lot nicer than it sounds.
I didn't end up getting nearly as many items as I wanted, but luckily I have tons of cards and shops to go visit online when I am feeling spendy. The owners are super gracious and willing to talk to you, even if you aren't able to buy on that day.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our little adventure to the Renegade Craft Fair. I hope there's one near you to check out!
