My Winter and Holiday Nail Polish Picks
You guys, Christmas is only 20 days away. Go ahead and let that sink in for a minute. Holy crap, right?! I keep thinking my body isn't ready, but one part of the holidays I am ready for is the nail polish. There's a special subset of my collection that I only feel like wearing during these upcoming weeks and months. I wanted to tackle this post in a different way than I think most other bloggers do. To me, "Holiday" and "Winter" nail polishes bring totally different colors and feelings. The holidays are warm and festive, with a lot of reds, pure white, and sparkle. Winter, on the other hand, brings cool tones: blues, silvers, and grays.
I'll let my photos do the talking instead of rambling on...
As you can see, the holiday set I put together is all about classic reds and sparkles. Of course, Butter London dominates this category. I recently bought two of their holiday sets, the Art of Alchemy (full review coming soon) and Silver Expectations. Both contained all polishes that I didn't already own (shockingly) and had amazing festive shades. Then, I had to pull out the Chanel polish in Malice (which was limited edition) that my bestie Marianna got for me 2 years ago for Christmas. Last, you need a shimmery gold, and in my opinion, Julep does them best. This one is Margot and she is just beautiful.
Here is the full list of colors:
- Butter London Stardust Overcoat - Silver Holographic Topcoat
- Butter London Cotton Buds - Bright Crisp White
- Butter London Chancer - Deep Red Glitter Topcoat
- Butter London Pill Box Red - Bright Classic Red, This is exclusive to the Art of Alchemy set
- Butter London La Moss - Deep Burgundy, looks almost black in certain light
- Julep Margot - Shimmery Gold
- Chanel 637 Malice- this was limited edition, but La Moss is very similar. Malice is little bit lighter.
My winter set is drastically different. During winter I love to wear cool tones to match the weather. I know a lot of people save mint green or periwinkle for spring, but I actually really like these shades for the winter. Essie's On a Silver Platter (the glitter polish in the middle) was the first color I pulled out for this set. It goes hand in hand with No More Film, which has been my favorite polish as of late. The Laura Mercier shade in the top left is Attitude and I think it's a perfect icey blue for winter. Next, two Julep polishes, Shenae and Lacey fit right in. I had both of these in the summer time, but I didn't have the urge to wear them. Again, I think they fit better in the cooler months of the year. Lastly, 3 more Butter London shades: Giddy Kipper(Periwinkle), Full Steam Ahead (medium gray - exclusive to Art of Alchemy set), and Lady Muck (light gray with silver shimmer).
You will be seeing several of these in upcoming Nails of the Day posts, so stay tuned for swatches and reviews. What nail polishes are your favorite for the holiday season?
