Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Sabon Visit and Review

Long time no bloggy! So sorry that I have been out of the blogosphere for quite some time. My husband and I trekked back to our homeland (Chicago) for 5 days and honestly since then, I've just been trying to get back into the swing of things. I don't know why that meant I was derailed for 2 weeks, but hey! here I am.

While I was in Chicago I got to spend a whole day with my best real life and blogger friend, Marianna from Impression Blend. We spent the day perusing our favorite mall ever (I miss you, Woodfield Mall!), but our first stop had to be Sabon. Now, I've never been inside this store, but Marianna fell in love with it several months ago and told me I HAD to try it out. All it took was a comparison to Lush to get me very interested in this little shop. We were probably the first customers to walk in that morning, and I think, the most excited. We literally sniffed and tried almost every product in the store, I was completely overwhelmed.

After much deliberation I decided I really just needed a sampler of the goodies to get to know them. I was also traveling back to California and knew I couldn't really take any of the full-sized items with me in my carry-on (my wallet thanked me). Luckily, Sabon carries the most perfect travel kit which doubles as a perfect sampler of most of their products. Not only do I get to try a lot of their products for relatively cheap, but now I have a set all ready to go for when I need to travel again! Perfection.

6 products stuffed in this cute bag!

The "Holiday Travel Kit" includes 6 travel-sized products in a cute travel bag for easy transportation. Things included are (straight from the Sabon website):

  • Shower Oil (PLV) - Light, non-greasy formula will thoroughly nourish and moisturize the skin without a trace of oiliness or residue.
  • Shampoo - Suitable for all hair types, for daily use. Creates a soft and silky texture with natural and protective extracts and oils from the Amazon rainforest.
  • Conditioner - Suitable for all hair types, for daily use. A softening conditioner for shiny, knot free hair.
  • Body Lotion - action-packed formula nourishes and rejuvenates, leaving skin noticeably softer and smoother. A treat for all skin types.
  • Fresh Wipes - Each towelette is lightly scented with our signature Patchouli Lavender Vanilla and gently removes excess dirt on the body and face.
  • Hand Sanitizer (PLV) - Be fresh and clean with our germ-fighting antibacterial hand cleanser.

As you can see, the packaging is adorable. The products themselves are amazing though. The scent of this whole set is Patchouli Lavender Vanilla and holy yum. It's the right amount of earthy plus sweet plus floral to make you smell great but not overwhelmingly hippy'ish. I love it. I have not tried all of the items in the kit, but I did try the shampoo. conditioner and lotion. I am IN LOVE with the conditioner and how thick and moisturizing it is. The hand lotion is also really great and I cannot get enough of that scent!

The set is awesome, but I did get 2 other things that I thought were pretty inexpensive and seemed quite unique to this company. The first is something that I haven't used yet, so I cannot review it. I am saving this amazing scented bath bomb ($5.50) for an evening where I really need a relaxing treat of a bath. I know you're wondering why I think this bath bomb is so unique. It's all about this scent! The patchouli lavender vanilla, it's so amazing and unique. You really do just need to give it a whiff to understand. I can't wait to try this out!

The other item I picked up is this amazing Loofah Soap($7.00). They have a plethora of scents; I got the one in Amber and OMG I love it so much. What they do is take a loofah and pour liquified glycerin soap on/through it and let it set up. You're left with a loofah and soap all mushed together. It's really quite brilliant. The loofah can be quite stiff as you are using it, but just... don't push hard... and you'll be fine!

Overall, I've really enjoyed trying out these products. I can't wait to finish trying all the items in my sampler kit. If you have a Sabon near you, go check it out! If you don't, maybe take a leap of faith and order off of their website. You can't go wrong with their Patchouli Lavender Vanilla scent. I will provide links below for those interested. Hope you are all having a good week and I promise my next post won't take so long.
