Let's talk eyeliners - My favorites as of late
You may remember a post I did awhile back called Let's talk mascara, where I talked about all my recent favorite mascaras. I would love to continue these Let's talk [Fill in the Blank] posts, please let me know if you like this idea! Today (as the title suggests) I wanted to show you what my favorite eyeliners. These are the heavy hitters for me, my most used of my collection.
Most mornings (ok... all mornings) I'm in a hurry to get out the door. I need a handful of reliable, effective eyeliners or else I honestly won't use them. I've got a mix of black liquid liners, brown/bronze kohl, a teal one for a pop of color and of course, a nude for my lower waterline.
You'll noticed I didn't include any black kohl liners... mostly because I really haven't been wearing any lately. When I want to tightline my upper waterline I use either the Urban Decay All Nighter eyeliner or the Stila Smudge stick waterproof eyeliner. These are both really good for this application. The thing is... I don't usually do this step when I'm rushing out the door.
So, here are the products:
The black liquid liners
- Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eye liner in Intense Black
- Kat Von D Ink Liner in Trooper
Both of these are intense opaque black felt tip liners. They are the easiest for me to work with, they make liquid liner easy for complete noobs. They stay in place all day, I had to seriously work to get the swatches off my arms. So far the only problem that I've had is that on my Stila felt tip there is a little bit of fraying. I have to either carefully cut it off, or roll it into the tip so that I can get a crisp line. I've had the Stila liner for at least a year now and this has just recently happened, so I'm not too mad about it.
- Nars Larger than Life Long-Wear eyeliner in Via Appia
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in Smog
These browns are such a dream to work with. Nars and Urban Decay really know how to make a kohl liner. They glide on so easily, you can smudge them out beautifully and they last all day. I don't know what they're magic is, but it's worth the price if you find a color that you love. Via Appia from Nars is a really warm copper brown with a bit of red flecks. It's beautiful with any neutral shadows for a natural look. Smog from Urban Decay is very similar but cooler toned and more on the gold side. The only problem with these soft buttery eyeliners is that the tip goes dull really quickly, but since you don't have to be as precise with the application, this usually works out fine for me.
Nude/pop of color
- Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof kohl in 005 Nude
- NYX retractable waterproof eye liner in Aqua Green
Aqua Green from NYX is a recent love for me. I picked it up because 1. It's cheap and 2. It's a thin twist up so the tip stays relatively sharp. The color is a beautifully shimmering teal that can add so much to a neutral look. I love the pop of color, but having it be pretty fuss free.
Lastly, of course, the good and trusty nude liner. Rimmel Scandaleyes is a lot of people's favorite for the lower waterline. Again, it's cheap and it just works. I hate having to sharpen it, but it's a small price to pay for the effect that it gives.
Let me know what your favorite eyeliners are! I hope you enjoyed seeing these. If you try them or have tried them, let me know what you think!
