Marc Jacobs Beauty Sky-Liner Seven Piece Petite Highliner Collection Review + Swatches
I'm back again with yet another awesome holiday set. As soon as I heard about the Marc Jacobs Sky-Liner Seven Piece Petite Highliner Collection, I was ON IT like white on rice. I've never owned one of these liners by Marc Jacobs, but I've never seen anything less than glowing reviews on every site that I've seen them featured on.
The set contains 7 liners at .37g (Sephora's website says .01 oz) which is about 3/4 of a full size at .5g (also listed at .01 oz on Sephora). Even with the discrepancy of sizes, it's easy to see the amount of value in this set. A full size Highliner will put you back $25, whereas this set of 7 is priced at $45. If you do the math, it's about $130 worth of eyeliner. Since I was considering picking up a few of the full size anyway, I knew that this set was getting added to my shopping cart as soon as I saw it.
I'm happy to say, I have no regrets whatsoever; these gel crayon eyeliners are fantastic. They claim to be "waterproof, have intense color and extreme wear". I'm the kind of person who likes to do their makeup in the morning before work and not have to touch a thing all day, so when a brand claims "extreme wear", I get excited that my eye makeup might actually last until I get home at night. For the most part, I can guarantee that almost any eyeliner I put in my waterline with be gone halfway through my day, but that is not the case with these eyeliners.
When I wear these liners, they STAY put. I'm in love with all of the colors in this set, there is not a bad one in the bunch.
The seven colors are
- O(vert) (forest green)
- Brown(out) (bronze with shimmer)
- Th(ink) (deep navy)
- (Plum)age (vivid purple)
- Blacquer (black)
- Sunset (golden bronze shimmer) ** Exclusive to this set
- Midnight in Paris (inky indigo blue) ** Exclusive to this set
The set comes in this sleek black case, which is pretty, but sort of useless when you are trying to get ready quickly in the morning. As soon as one of my smaller candles finishes up, they will have a new home (with my sample mascaras) that is more accessible. They have sturdy silver packaging and a twist up mechanism so you don't have to worry about sharpening. Even though these are smaller than a full size liner, they don't feel awkward in your hand. I still feel like I have plenty of control during application.
All of the colors in this set are extremely wearable and pigmented. I have used every one of them and choosing which color to wear in the morning has recently become my biggest #firstworldproblem. They take very little pressure to apply and even after scrubbing my arm, those swatches still had remnants. I later had to use an eye makeup remover to get the rest off.
Suffice to say, I love this set. I definitely recommend it. It's worth the price for what you are getting and the colors are amazing. The only problem I see is that I'm going to use these up quickly because I like them so much. What do you think of this set? Are you thinking about picking it up?
