NARSissist Eyeshadow Palette Swatches + Look
A couple of weeks ago I was going through my drawers to prepare for my post, Products that did not live up to the hype. One product that made the list was this palette, NARS Narsissist Eyeshadow Palette. While this palette has not been on my favorites list, I decided that I need to give it another shot. This palette has been a big miss for a lot of people, but as I was swatching it over a skype date with my friend Marianna, I realized that not all of the shades were bad. Most of the mid and dark tones are really nice and pigmented.
As you will see in the swatches, the light colors are just... bad. They are chalky and barely look like anything on my skin tone. A lot of the shades also developed a hard coating on top, which made it hard to swatch or use them. Dogon II and Pandora II, the darkest shades, are a little bit on the dry side as well. I would prefer that this dark of a shade be a little bit more creamy and blendable than these are, however this isn't a dealbreaker for me. The midtone shades of this palette seem like they belong in their own seperate palette. Unlike the rest, they are super soft, pigmented, beautiful colors, and blend easily.
For this look I used Madrague I and Nepal all over the lid. Then I used Bali in the crease, and a little bit of Bad Behavior in the outer corner. Madrague I did almost nothing, but did help to lighten Nepal on the lid. I also added a little bit of Lhasa on the lower lash line to help balance the look and enhance the purple eyeliner.
For my liner I used Marc Jacobs Highliner gel eyeliner in (Plum)age, which I received in my Sky-Liner Seven Piece Petite Highliner Collection. I didn't want a stark purple line with this look, so I used a pencil brush to blend it out quite a bit.
This was a pretty simple eye look, so I decided to try it with two different lip colors.
For more of an everyday look, I would pair this with a nude lip. This one is Too Faced Le Creme in Naked Dolly. You've seen me mention this many times, but this time I paired it with NYX butter gloss in Praline. This is a new addition to my butter gloss collection and I think it looks great with Naked Dolly.
In the event you want to be a little more bold, then you can't go wrong with Urban Decay's Manic. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the pictures because this color is a lot darker and vampy in person. Since it's pretty glossy, it looks lighter and more pink than it is in person, but that's ok! I still think it looks great with this eye look.
