Intro to Kiehl's: 3 Product Review

The last time I discussed any type of skincare on this blog was back when I reviewed the Tea Tree products by the Body Shop. If you remember, I liked them, but I was not in love. About midway through December I finally ran out of the cleanser and had the opportunity to choose something new. Since everyone seems to rave about Kiehl's, and because I was looking for just a basic cleanser and moisturizer, I decided to pick up the Ultra Facial Cleanser, and the Ultra Facial Cream. Then, I received the Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque as a Christmas gift. I've been using these 3 products for about 3-4 weeks now, so I wanted to let you know my thoughts on them.

In general, I have combination skin that can get really dry if I use the wrong products. When I switched over to the new products, I was nervous that my skin would react badly. Normally, when I try anything new my skin freaks out in some way, usually in the form of a breakout or random dry patches on my face. I'm happy to say that when I started using the Kiehl's products, there were no negative reactions at all.

The Ultra Facial Cleanser is a very gentle, non-offensive cleanser that does not dry out your skin. After using it, there is a tiny bit of tightness, but it doesn't feel as though your face has been stripped of all moisture. I don't feel like I have to put on a moisturizer ASAP to compensate. As far as removing all makeup, I have had lazy days where I skipped the makeup remover and went straight in with cleansing. It removed everything except whatever was right at my lash line, since I didn't feel like rubbing soap that much into my eyes.

Next up is the Ultra Facial Cream. I debated between getting this and the Ultra Facial Moisturizer, but opted to get this to help fight dryness in these colder months. Yes, it does get cold enough in L.A. to mess with my skin. They are very similar in concept, but this one is much thicker in consistency. It's not so thick though, that I can't use it in the morning. Previously I had been using the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Moisturizer (what is with skincare needing to use the world ultra?), which was good, but after about 30 minutes of applying it I felt like my skin could use some more. With the Kiehl's, it sinks in quickly, but then my skin still feels moisturized hours later. I've been using this for my day and night cream.

Last, but definitely not least, is the Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque (long enough name?). I struggle, as I'm sure many of you do, with blackheads on my nose and chin area, so I wanted to try this out. First, I need to mention that you get a TON of product in this tub, it's a 5oz jar for $23. I've used it 3 times and the jar still looks full. This is a pretty basic mud mask (or as fancy people spell it, "masque"). I love the consistency of it. When you apply it, it's thin enough of spread easily over your skin, but still is opaque on your skin. Because of that, you can apply quite a thin coat and still have it work well. Now, I won't say that this mask has worked miracles on my blackheads, but it definitely has helped the situation. After using it, my skin feels extremely clean and I do think it is helping to reduce the size of my pores. Between this and my Acure scrub, my face feels like it is made of brand new skin.

I also wanted to mention that I got a sample of the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, and o.m.g. I LOVED it. I will absolutely be buying a full size once I run out of my current eye cream.

That's it! If you have tried any Kiehl's products, let me know if you have any recommendation for me. So far I've loved everything I've tried of theirs!
