Valentine's Day Inspired Nails of the Day
When it comes to painting my nails, I have little to no patience. This is why doing nail art has never been a thing for me. I'm usually lucky if I get a solid color on all of my nails and make it look like I can color in the lines. However... I've been seeing some awesome simple nail art posts, specifically from Siham over at Noirette Diary, and I thought Valentine's day gave me a good excuse to try something new.
I started out with a base of Julep's Ava, which is a very light pink. Once that was dry, I was going to tape off my middle and pinky fingers to get those nice diagonal lines. Turns out, dry wasn't really dry and the tape ruined my base coat. Once I fixed that up, I decided to free hand it with my striping tool. For this part I used Julep's Missy and ended up with a solid line down the center of my index finger, a triangle on my middle finger, and a solid diagonal section on my pinky finger. Then I went in with Butter London's Keen and added accents to the silver using my striping tool again on my middle finger, my dotting tool on the rest.
For the heart I used the bigger side of the dotting tool to create the two top bumps and the smaller dot to make the point. Then, I just kind of smushed the color in between to form a heart shape. Basically, this is not rocket science and I don't know what I was scared of to begin with!
Turns out, nail art is kind of fun! While I probably won't be doing it all the time, I'm definitely down for more experimenting!
