Inspired by... The Mistborn Trilogy: A look using Charlotte Tilbury's The Rock Chick
If you've been around for any amount of time, you know that I have a serious love for both makeup and books. There's nothing better than when the two come together. In today's post I wanted to quickly share a look that is a go-to for me with Charlotte Tilbury's The Rock Chick palette, but kicked it up a notch with some winged eyeliner. The sharp lines in the designs of the Mistborn box set inspired me to put this together. In the series there is an ongoing theme of gray and black: the dark mists come swirling out at night and there is constantly rainfall of not water, but ash. I thought the grays in the Charlotte Tilbury palette were perfect for this and a few of you requested a look with the palette after I posted swatches, so here we go!
On the eyes I used all the shades from The Rock Chick palette as well as the Navy shade from the Narsissist Dual Intensity Palette for the liner. First, I put the lightest color (they don't have official names, but it is the "prime" shade) all over my lid, making sure to get the inner corner for some nice shimmery highlight. Next, I concentrated the medium shade (labeled "enhance") on the outer third and swept that into the crease. After that, I took the dark gray ("smoke") shade and deepened the color on the outer corner of my eyelid.
Once I was happy with how the shadows looked, I went in with Giove from the Narsissist Dual Intensity Palette. I used a small wet liner brush and that made it really easy to apply the color precisely. I like using this method because it's a little less nerve-wracking than going right in with a black liquid liner and still gives a bold effect. After the liner was good, I took a little bit of the glitter shade from The Rock Chick (labeled "Pop") and just tapped that over the shadows with my finger to add a bit more sparkle.
For a more every day look, I would do the same steps, but just not wing out the liner and skip the glitter. I hope you liked seeing this palette in action! I really am in love with it and have been using it nonstop since I bought it.
