Book Haul | June 2015

In my last haul, you may recall that I've been making an effort to control my book buying habit. I'm happy to say that I followed that throughout June and I've made quite a bit of progress on getting to my unread books on my shelf. Still, I managed to pick up 9 books, so don't worry, I have plenty to talk about for this haul!

First, Book Outlet got me again after finally refreshing their stock (it was pretty sad for awhile there). The Crane Wife and Everything I Never Told You are both books that have been on my TBR and last time they were on Book Outlet I missed out on them, so this time I snatched them up. The Crane Wife is an adult magical realism book by Patrick Ness, which I had to pick up after really enjoying A Monster Calls. Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng is another adult book, but this time dealing with death and how it affects a family. This promises to be a heartbreaking and eye-opening read.

Next, I picked up You by Caroline Kepnes, which is told from the perspective of a stalker in 2nd person point of view. It has a very creepy main character, who is also very relatable and funny, which sounds really intriguing to me. The last thing I bought from Book Outlet is The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter, which I honestly don't know the premise of. Angela Carter is on my list of authors I really want to try out and since this was a steal, I couldn't pass it up.

Each month I've been trying to add to my classics shelf little by little, and this month I picked 5 from my Book Depository wish list since I didn't have any book club books I needed to buy. The first to go in my cart was Mrs Dalloway because I've heard quite a few booktubers mention this title as their favorite work written by Virginia Woolf. I have not read anything by Woolf yet (shame on me, I know), so I decided this will be the first. Next, I had to pick out a few more Penguin English Library editions just because they are so beautifully designed and reasonably priced. I picked out Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. All three of these I have not read, but have been wanting to for many years. Last, but certainly not least, I had to pick up Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. This is another classic that I have yet to read, but I frequently hear people saying it is one of their absolute favorites. I probably won't get to all these anytime soon, but hey, classics don't go out of style, right? I'm fully aware that these will stay unread for awhile, but my goal here was to add to my collection.

That's everything that I bought in the month of June. Have you read any of these books? What did you add to your shelves this month?
