Mid-Year Reading Update
2015 is officially halfway over (yipes) so I thought it would be fun to revisit my reading goals that I set at the beginning of the year in this post and let you know how I'm doing. I finished out 2014 with only 31 novels read, so this year I really wanted to focus on my reading and raised my goal to 52. One thing to note is that before this year, I did not track my comic reading in Goodreads. I only count trade paperbacks, but still I will make sure to split the numbers so you can see how many novels vs. volumes of comic book series.
As of July 13th 2015, I've read 71 Novels and Trade Paperbacks. 24 were volumes of comics and 47 were novels. According to Goodreads, I've surpassed my goal of reading 52 books, so I went ahead and upped it to 100. I figure hey, might as well embrace my motivation and go all out with my goal. Secretly, I also don't feel like comics count, so I still want to read as many novels as possible. I'm hoping to get around the 75 mark for that by the end of the year.
You may also remember that I decided to try and complete the POPSUGAR reading challenge, which I've been updating here. I approached this at the beginning of the year by filling in all the categories with books from my Goodreads TBR that fit. However, I quickly learned that this does not work for me. I've basically been just reading what I'm in the mood for and then changing the entries as I go. Still, I've managed to knock out a good portion of the challenges. 30 down, 20 more to go!
All in all, I am very proud of myself for accomplishing this much so far. *pats self on back* I also am really happy with the quality of books I've read this year. I think I have booktube to thank for that, it's great to have a place to turn to for recommendations! As you can see my 4 and 5 star reviews far outweigh the 2-3's, and I've had no 1 star books (that I've finished). If you are curious, these are my favorites so far this year (Check here for reviews of all of these):
That's all for me! How have you been doing with your reading this year? Are you happy with where you are or do you need to kick it into gear? Also, what is your favorite book you've read so far this year?
