My New Obsession and Why I've Been Gone
Hello all! It's been awhile since my last post and I'm here to let you know why. I've opened my own Etsy store! This may seems kind of random, but let me tell you about the events that led me here. It all started with Elle Fowler and her glamplanner videos (her intro to planners video is here). At first, the idea of having a planner and decorating it with really girly stickers was not appealing to me at all, I'm just not that kind of girl. But when I found out I could customize my planner to my own style... Well, this was born:
From there, I started shopping on Etsy and found SO many stores that sell stickers and washi tape designed to work specifically with this planner. My new obsession was suddenly getting very expensive. The problem was, while I was finding a lot of cute things to buy, I still was having trouble with finding things that suited my style. Now, this is where things got really expensive. After doing a ton of research I decided to buy a Silhouette Cameo cutter to make my own stickers. A lot of trial and error, and a few weeks later, I've opened my own shop:
Woo! The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind since I've been working my normal job and then coming home to design all evening. Even though it's been really busy and my days feel like they've been just disappearing, I've really enjoyed it! I love every product that I have up in my shop and that's a great feeling.
Now that I've plugged my new shop (haha) let me give you a tour of my own planner. The first few weeks are before I started designing stickers, but the last couple have my designs in them. Here we go!
This is my second week with this planner. Trust me, week 1 is a mess and that's why it is not going to be included in this. I was using a lot of the stickers that came with the planner in this particular spread, as well as a lot of stickers from Planneresque and Scribble Prints Co. Let's not forget the washi... this purple spread features tape mostly from That Washi Tape Girl (the thinner solid colors are from Michael's).
The next week I went with red, orange, and yellow for my colors. This is the week that I started incorporating my own stickers. The currently reading stickers, rescheduled, and some of the star checklists are some of my first designs. Obviously, reading stickers had to be some of the first things I made because this is one category where most Etsy stores are severely lacking.
Can you tell I was on vacation this week? It's one of my favorites so far, I love the purple and blue together.
Lastly, I wanted to show you my spread for next week, even though it's only partially complete. This is typically what my layouts look like the Sunday before the week to come. I like to set everything up ahead of time so that I just have to fill in details as they come.
Ok! That brings me up to date with my planner! I have no idea if any of you reading this are into planners. Please let me know! I could keep going with this and make it into a series, I'd be happy to periodically show you what my planner looks like!
